A good-sized, opening night crowd of about 700 fans watched a field of 73 drivers on opening night at Fiesta City Speedway Friday.


A good-sized, opening night crowd of about 700 fans watched a field of 73 drivers on opening night at Fiesta City Speedway Friday.

The field was made up of 11 Pure Stocks, nine Mod IVs, 16 Street Stocks, 10 Super Stocks, 15 Mid­west Modifieds and 12 Late Models.

Zach Johnson of Kens­ington dominated the WISSOTA Late Model feature, taking home the first-place prize money of $1,000.

Johnson led the feature from start to finish and finished half a lap ahead of second-place finisher Jeff Wildung of Nassau. Chuck Swenson of Water­town, S.D., was third, Corey Nelson of Canby fourth and Shawn Kirwin of Morris fifth.

Randy Bjerkeset of Clarkfield took the lead to start the Pure Stock feature. Jon Reich of Benson took over the top spot on lap 4. Two laps later, Ross Bjerkeset of Clarkfield took the lead and led the rest of the way to get the feature win. Reich finished second and Randy Bjerk­eset third.

Tyler Larson of Pennock led the WISSOTA Mod IV feature from start to finish for the win. Tom Silver of Glenwood was second, followed by Dustin Zieske of Willmar.

Ryan Buer of Atwater held off Mike Jans of Clarkfield to win the WISSOTA Street Stock feature. Brandon Jacobson of Han­ley Falls was third.

Mike Jans of Clarkfield led all 15 laps of the WISSOTA Super Stock feature. Jans held off Jeremy Jerve of Montevideo in the closing laps to get the feature win. Cory Tammen of Clara City was third.

Matt Suckow of Apple­ton led the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature flag to flag for the victory. Marshall Tofte of Madi­son) came in second and Tyler Limoges of Red­wood Falls third.

Friday is Veterans’ Night, sponsored by the NAPA stores of Monte­video, Granite Falls, Clara City and Marshall. Heat races begin at 7 p.m.
