The Montevideo baseball team will open Section 3AA North tournament play Saturday at 1 p.m. at Marshall against Lac qui Parle Valley.


The Montevideo baseball team will open Section 3AA North tournament play Saturday at 1 p.m. at Marshall against Lac qui Parle Valley.

If the Thunder Hawks win, they would play again at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The tournament format has been changed this year to single elimination until teams reach the semifinals.

The T-Hawks will take a record of 11-9 into the tournament after finishing the regular season with wins over BOLD?and ACGC?and losses to Morris and Pipestone Area.

Christian Brabender pitched a complete game and Colton Vien went 3-for-3 with two RBI to lead the T-Hawks to a 6-2 West Central Conference South win over BOLD Friday at Bird Island.

Montevideo scored four times in the first inning, with five straight singles from Mitch Christensen, Hendrickson, Kuno, Ryan Tostenson and Colton Vien.
