The Montevideo girls swimming and diving team opened the season with a 109-51 road loss to a strong Melrose team.

The Thunder Hawks got first-place finishes from Sam Oellien in the 100-yard backstroke, Stina Ostlie in the 100 breaststroke and from the 400 freestyle relay team of Jordan Shimell, Oellien, Baylee Pauling and Julia Longworth.

The T-Hawks will have their first home meet of the season today (Thursday) against Milaca. Monte­video will host St. Cloud Cathedral Tuesday. Both meets begin at 6 p.m.
