The University of Minnesota, Morris, will honor its football teams that were unbeaten in conference play from 1975-1978 by enshrining them into the Cougar Hall of Fame.
Those teams, which won 28 consecutive Northern Collegiate Conference games, were coached by Montevideo native Al Molde.
“I can truly say that the seven years I spent at UMM remain a treasure and the pinnacle of my early coaching career,” said Molde, who is now the athletic director at Gustavus Adolphus College. “The 1978 team was the No. 1 ranked football team in the country throughout the entire season.”
Playing on those Cougars teams were Dick Erickson and Arly Grages of Montevideo.
The induction ceremony will be held at homecoming Saturday, Oct. 9.
