The Montevideo Gold Dusters finished fourth out of nine teams in a Class AA high kick competition at Fridley on Saturday.

“We improved quite a bit from last week and the team danced great,” said coach Sharon Forde. “This week’s competition had tougher teams and we kept up with them. We are very pleased with where we are at for this time of the year.”

The top three teams — Austin, Fridley and North Branch — were all coached by women with previous Gold Dusters connections.

Former Gold Dusters coach Jennifer Sims is the head coach at Austin; Emily Swanson Fauscher, a former Gold Duster, is Fridley’s head coach; and Marie Norton Ray is the head coach at North Branch.

The Gold Dusters will give their annual Christmas performance today (Thursday) at halftime of the home girls basketball game against Morris/Chokio-Alberta.
