Motorists passing through Wegdahl this past weekend noticed a marked change in the community’s appearance. The large, corrugated metal grain bins located along Chippewa County Road 15 are all but gone, save for a few piles of scrap metal as seen above. The bins are being demolished by the owner, a partner at one time in Granite Falls Ventures. Chippewa County, which is not involved in the current demolition, removed a former fertilizer warehouse in Wegdahl early this past fall. “It’s kind of changing the face of the area,” commented Scott Williams, Chippewa County land and resource management supervisor.
