  •  I’m sure most of our readers were a bit surprised when they picked up their American-News this week.
Inserted in this week’s edition is “Our Story,” Profile 2012, 78 pages dedicated to the people who live and work in our community.
We have been putting out our Profile or Progress edition, as we originally called it, for 22 years. Since 1994, we have saluted more than 100 “impact players,” individuals who have gone the extra mile to make Montevideo and the surrounding area a better place to live and work.
The past couple of years, rather than featuring local businesses as a whole, we have concentrated our stories on individual employees within those businesses.
This is also our way of introducing you to some of the most recent businesses to open their doors here and to employees who may have recently moved to Montevideo.
We hope you enjoy these stories about these hard-working individuals, most of whom are also very active in various organizations in our schools, churches and service organizations.
This spirit of volunteerism is what makes a community strong, and residents of this part of rural Minnesota have traditionally gone out of their way to help each other.
If you, our readers, know someone whom you would like to see featured in next year’s Profile edition, please let us know.
Profile 2012 was a collaborative effort of our sales, composition and editorial staffs. Over the past six weeks, many extra hours of work have gone into putting out a product that we are proud to present to our readers.
We think it’s a pretty good bang for you buck-and-a-quarter. We hope you’ll agree.
