Several Montevideo Area Special Olympics athletes earned medals in the state basketball tournament held at the University of St. Thomas last weekend.
Montevideo’s full-court and half-court teams both finished second in their divisions.
Playing on the full-court team were Tim Binnebose, Jermain Carroll, Darrin Collum, Jesse Danielson, Paul Enstad, Eric Krueger, Cameron McPhail, Quentin Ohm, Michael Rigge, Charles Vaughn and Joe Wanke.
Members of the half-court team were Melissa Keding, Julie Maus, Kyle Swanson, Jody French and Tom Schewe.
Taking first place in their divisions in skills competitions were Steve Brokke and Hayley Swanson. Placing second were Marcus Jerve and Darcy Johnson. Terry Gerdes won a third-place medal. Placing fourth were Mary Gustafson and Doug Pierce.

Practice for the Special Olympics track season begins April 11 at 5 p.m.
