  • Brass in Blue, the United States Air Force Heartland of America Band, will present a concert on Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m., at the Fine Arts Center in Montevideo.
The 12-member ensemble of 10 brass players, a percussionist and a vocalist is under the direction of Staff Sgt. Carl Eitzen. They will perform a diverse repertoire of orchestral transcriptions, patriotic favorites, jazz standards, new compositions and distinctive arrangements.
Since their debut in February 2007, Brass in Blue has earned a reputation as one of the premier brass ensembles in the Midwest. In November 2009, the group returned from a 70-day deployment to Southwest Asia in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom.
This concert, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Montevideo American-News and Montevideo schools music department.
Tickets may be picked up at Montevideo Publishing, 223 South First Street.
