The Montevideo baseball team climbed back into the West Central Conference South race with road wins over Yellow Medicine East and BOLD.

The Thunder Hawks will host ACGC in a doubleheader today (Thursday). Benson will be here for a conference game on Tuesday.

Montevideo 10, YME?4
Montevideo broke open a close game with four runs in the sixth inning to defeat Yellow Medicine East 10-4 last Thursday at Granite Falls.

Brett Bergeson, Colton Vien, Austin Hoehne, Tanner Lindemann and Jake Bednar all had two hits for the T-Hawks, with Lindemann driving in three runs and Hoehne knocking in two.

Jordan Thompson pitched the first five innings to get the win.

The Wildcats scored an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth inning to edge the T-Hawks 3-2 in a non-conference game Monday at New London.

Montevideo had tied the game at 2-all in the fourth inning on Jake Bednar’s two-run single.

The T-Hawks moved within a half game of the conference leading Warriors behind the three-hit pitching of Colton Vien.

Vien didn’t walk a batter and notched five strikeouts in the complete-game performance.

The T-Hawks got the only run Vien would need in the third inning when Joe Bednar and Brett Bergeson executed a double steal, with Bednar, who had three of Montevideo’s nine hits, scoring from third.
