First-place finishes in both conference meets the past week pulled the Montevideo boys into a tie for first place with Benson/KMS for the West Central Conference South lead.
Two meets remain on the conference schedule — at Madison on May 19 and at Benson on May 21.
Thursday’s win at The Crossings was crucial to the T-Hawks’ title hopes. Montevideo and Benson/KMS tied for first place, but the T-Hawks won the tiebreaker using Tyler Sachariason’s fifth-place team score of 42.
Phillip Ward was the individual medalist at Atwater on Tuesday with an even-par 36.
