The Montevideo boys track team will look to defend its West Central Conference South championship when the Thunder Hawks host the conference meet today (Thursday) at 4:30 p.m.
The Thunder Hawks boys and girls teams are coming off a busy week. Montevideo sent split squads to invitationals at Granite Falls and Worthington last Thursday.
A?small contingent of boys finished fourth at Worthington. Jake Douglas won the long jump and triple jump.
The Montevideo boys were fourth out of 10 teams in the Yellow Medicine East Invitational. Dan Macziewski was the winner in the pole vault.
The Montevideo girls also finished fourth. Montevideo’s 3,200 relay team of Jamilah Carson, MaKena Hofer, Addie Reinert and Kailey Maroney finished first.
The Montevideo boys won the annual running of the Monte Relays on Monday, while the Thunder Hawks girls team finished third.
Winning events for the Montevideo boys were the shuttle hurdle relay of Chase Testa, Jordon Jaenisch and Jack Spaeth; the 800 relay of Wyatt Enger, Jake Douglas, Jeremiah Lipinski and Testa; the 400 relay of Douglas, Enger, Janisch and Testa; the distance medley of Anthony Bosch, Mitch Moe, Spencer Sulflow and Joe Varpness; the long jump relay of Douglas, Testa and Jimmy Haff; and the triple jump relay of Douglas, Casey Reeves and Thomas Stoeckman.
