  • Montevideo and Benson/KMS will share the West Central Conference South boys golf championship after BKMS won the final meet of the season on its home course on Monday.
Five Montevideo golfers earned all-conference individual honors. Phillip Ward was conference medalist for the second straight year and he made the all-conference team for the fourth time. Grant Tufto and Ryan Knudson earned their third all-conference medals, and Tyler Sachariason and Mike Moritz made the all-conference team for the second time. Montevideo nearly had its entire team make all-conference, but Derek Bruns just missed making the final spot.
“It was a good battle all year. It was so even,” said Montevideo coach Eric Anderson of the rivalry with Benson/KMS.
That rivalry continued Wednesday as both teams competed in the Sub-Section 3AA Northwest tournament at Ortonville, with only the winning team eligible to advance to the Section 3A meet.
