The annual observance of Memorial Day in Montevideo will be held Monday, May 28, with ceremonies at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens and Sunset Memorial Cemetery.


The annual observance of Memorial Day in Montevideo will be held Monday, May 28, with ceremonies at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens and Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Short programs will be held at St. Joseph and Terrace Lawn at 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

The main program will begin at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Marv Dehne, an Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post 59 for 32 years, will give the main address. Dehne, who has also been the club’s gambling manager for 26 years, will speak on “Veterans Past and Present.”

Music will be provided by the Montevideo High School concert band, under the direction of Tim Domka. Taps will be played by Montevideo High School seniors Alex Bosch and Darin Stevens. There will also be a vocal solo by Montevideo Mayor Debra Lee Fader.

Legion chaplain Dennis Anderson will give the invocation and benediction. Present­ation of wreaths and crosses will be by Boy Scout Troop 259.

In case of inclement weather, the program will be held in the Fine Arts Center at 11 a.m.
