  • Montevideo’s girls and boys golf teams swept the championships of the Sub-Section 12 tournament last Wednesday at Ortonville.



    The Montevideo girls defended their team title by 25 strokes over runner-up Morris/Chokio-Alberta. Kendyl Anderson led the way for the Thunder Hawks with a 94.


    The Montevideo boys’ season-long rivalry with Benson/KMS continued, with the Thunder Hawks winning the title on the basis of a tiebreaker score.


    Both teams had scores of 304, but Montevideo’s fifth-place score was four shots lower than Ben­son/KMS’s.


    Phillip Ward fired a one-under-par 71 to lead Montevideo. All six Mon­te­video players shot under 80.


    Both Montevideo teams will compete in the Section 3AA?tournament today (Thursday) at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Willmar.
