  • The Montevideo VFW Post 380 baseball team lost its season opener 10-6 at Alexandria on Tuesday.



    After falling behind 8-0, Montevideo scored twice in the sixth inning and four times in the seventh. The game ended with Monte­video having the tying run at the plate.


    Jordan Thompson and Ricky Schmitz had two hits and two RBI each for Montevideo. Jeff Rohloff, Andrew Peters and Spen­cer Hildahl also had hits for Post 380, which is being coached this season by Todd Bergeson.


    Montevideo will host Madison on Friday at 6 p.m.


    Montevideo’s American Legion team will open its season at home today (Thursday) at 7 p.m. against New London-Spicer.
