The Montevideo American Legion baseball team picked up three victories the past week.
Colton Vien pitched a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Post 59 defeated Kerkhoven 4-1 last Wednesday at Kerkhoven.
The lone run off Vien, who walked just one batter, was unearned.
Post 59 beat Prinsburg 15-5 in five innings here Friday.
Tanner Lindemann led Montevideo’s 16-hit attack by going 4-for-4 with four RBI. Jake Bednar was also 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Austin Hoehne and Kyle TeBeest had two hits each.
Lindemann and Jordan Thompson combined on the shutout, with Thompson getting credit for the win. Lindemann struck out five over the first 3 1/3 innings.
Vien was on the mound again as Montevideo topped Yellow Medicine East 3-0 Monday at Granite Falls.
Vien pitched a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts, while issuing just one walk. Aaron Zieske pitched well for Granite Falls, scattering eight hits.
Brett Bergeson hit a solo home run in the sixth inning. Also driving in runs for Montevideo were Joe Bednar and Lindemann. Bednar, Bergeson and Vien had two hits each.
Montevideo’s next game will be Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Cottonwood. Montevideo will host Willmar next Wednesday at 7 p.m.
