The Montevideo girls tennis team had a hectic, but successful week, winning five of their six matches to improve their record to 8-5.

In their first home match of the season, the Thunder Hawks blanked Morris/Cho­k­io-Alberta 7-0 last Thurs­day.

The team traveled to Marshall for a quadrangular meet Saturday and the T-Hawks defeated Marshall 6-1, Morris/Chokio-Alberta 7-0 and Worthington 7-0.

Sierra Frazier and Kailey Maroney were 3-0 in singles matches, Natasha was 2-0 and Tina Lipinski was 1-0. Winning all three of their matches were the doubles teams of Rose Reinert-Lyndsey Moe and Froya Olson-Morgan Reidinger.

The T-Hawks lost a hard-fought match to a strong Hutchinson team by a 4-3 score here Monday. Monte­video got singles wins from Catherine Haugen, Frazier and Maroney.

On Tuesday, Montevideo scored a 7-0 road win over Lac qui Parle Valley/Daw­son-Boyd. In a matchup of two of the area's top singles players, Haugen defeated Kelle Thompson 6-4, 6-3.

The T-Hawks have another busy week coming up. They host a Minnewaska team today (Thursday) that they lost to earlier in the season. Montevideo will take on Lac qui Parle Val­ley/Dawson-Boyd and River Valley in a triangular at Lac qui Parle Valley Saturday. Yellow Medicine East will provide the opposition for a home match Monday.
