  • Clarkfield Civic and Commerce is hosting a haunted hayride and other Halloween fun events on Saturday, October 27 from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the Emergency Medical Services building and North Park in Clarkfield.
Clarkfield Civic and Commerce will be meeting to discuss the event at their regular meeting on Tuesday night, Oct. 16, at 6 p.m. at City Hall. Those wishing to participate and volunteer for the event are encouraged to attend.
“Right now we’re mostly looking for people to dress up and be around Saturday night and maybe get involved in scaring some people,” said Clarkfield City Administrator Scott Weske about the need for volunteers.
Family friendly hayrides are scheduled for 5 p.m.-7 p.m. with haunted hayrides (more appropriate for older age levels) set to take place after that until 9 p.m.
“The plan now is to take families out on rides around the big loop roadway through North Park,” said Weske. “Later the ride will divert a little more, down through the trees in the park for a good scare.”
During the hayrides refreshments will be served at the EMS building. There, games like “Pin the nose on the pumpkin” and “Halloween bean bag toss” will be set up.
    A children’s costume contest is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Pricing for the event is expected to be set at Tuesday night’s Civic and Commerce meeting. Yet attendees can expect $1 off their ticket if  they bring a canned food item for the local food shelf.
This event is being held in lieu of the Civic and Commerce sponsored Clarkfield Haunted House, which has been held in the community for over a decade. Roughly 100-150 kids would attend that event each year.
If you are interested in volunteering for the event, or would like more information call City Hall at (320) 669-4435, or contact a Clarkfield Civic and Commerce member.
