  • Morris/Chokio-Alberta remained unbeaten and in a first-place tie with BOLD in the West Central Conference with a 55-7 win over Montevideo Friday at Big Cat Stadium in Morris.
The Thunder Hawks, who are now 1-5 on the season will host BOLD, the other conference co-leader, Friday for Montevideo's homecoming game.
Montevideo will host Lac qui Parle Valley in the regular season finale next Wednesday in the battle for the Goose Call traveling trophy. The trophy is currently in Montevideo's possession.
A senior-dominated Morris/Chokio-Alberta team used several long scoring plays to defeat the Thunder Hawks.
The Tigers ran just 31 plays from scrimmage, but they amassed 409 yards of total offense for an average gain of 13.2 yards per play.
Tigers senior quarterback Jacob Torgerson attempted just seven passes, but he completed six of them for 199 yards and touchdowns of 71, 70 and 14 yards.
Montevideo tried to control the ball with its running game. Sophomore fullback Markus Kranz was a workhorse, carrying the ball 31 times for 93 yards, but the Thunder Hawks were unable to sustain enough drives to keep the ball away from the explosive Tigers.
A blocked punt on Montevideo's first possession set up the Tigers' first touchdown.
Montevideo's only score came early in the fourth quarter when sophomore Jimmy Haff returned a punt 81 yards for a touchdown.
