  • Before going to the polls on Tuesday, it doesn't hurt to refamiliarize yourself with the rules regarding registration and identification at the polling center.
The Minnesota Secretary of State website explains that before you can vote you must register. In Minnesota, if you haven't already registered 20 days before election day, you may do so at your polling place. To be eligible to register, you must:
Be at least 18 years-old on Election Day; be a citizen of the United States; have resided in Minnesota for 20 days immediately preceding Election Day; have any felony conviction record discharged, expired, or completed; not be under court-ordered guardianship where a court has revoked your voting rights; and not have been ruled legally incompetent by a court of law.
Registration remains current unless you move, change your name or do not vote for four consecutive years.
Polling places open at 7 a.m. on Nov. 6, 2012, though some township locations may open as late as 10 a.m. All polling places close at 8 a.m.
In Montevideo, the polling location will be at the National Guard Training and Community Center (TACC).
There is a sample of the ballot on page 11B. Our voters guide is on pages 1B-6B.
