Thank you for your vote
I would like to express my sincere thanks to voters for entrusting me to be their voice at the state Capitol in St. Paul. I take the responsibility of serving as your state representative very seriously and am humbled to have this privilege.

You have spoken loud and clear that gridlock and budgeting gimmicks are unacceptable and the state must find real solutions to the challenges we face. Building a budget that works for Minnesota is going to be a major task. I, for one, am very confident that we will find a way to balance the budget fairly while protecting the unique qualities that make rural Minnesota a great place to live, work and raise a family.

I encourage all of you to stay involved and continue to communicate directly with me. Please feel free to contact my office if you would like to meet to discuss issues of importance to our area. Working together is vital to ensuring a successful future for the residents of District 17A and the sooner we get started the better.

Please feel free to contact me by phone at (651) 296-4228 or 1-800-682-1388, or by e-mail at or by mail at State Office Building, St. Paul, MN 55155.

It is truly an honor to represent you.

A timely read
November is National Adoption month. Are you a birth mother, or know someone who is? A friend of mine sent me this poem by Sara Ruth, which I think is worth reflecting on.

One long ago summer day,
you lost a piece of you.
I have kept it all along,
but I didn't know what to do.

Being tenacious, strong and smart
I implored for your reply.
My pleas were not to break your heart
I never wanted to make you cry.

Time has passed, so many years,
keep praying for your call.
Again it's autumn, winter nears,
still there's nothing, not at all.

Don't understand why you prolong
Is it fear. or shame. or pain?
Do you languish, year, or long
or dread you'll lose it all again?

Depriving us both is not required.
You made a prudent choice back then.
Those circumstances have expired.
We are allowed to start again.

That ravaged space inside of you
could start healing underway,
if you might let me return to you
the very thing you lost that day.
