The Ridgewater College concert choirs from Willmar and Hutchinson will come together to present a Scandinavian Choral Tapestry. The choirs will perform Thursday, November 29 in the Hutchinson campus auditorium, and again on Tuesday, December 4 in the Willmar campus theatre. Both performances begin at 7:00 p.m. and are free and open to the public. The concert combines the concert choirs from both the Hutchinson and Willmar campuses. Individual choirs and soloists are also featured in the performance. The concert is in three parts: Part I highlights the seasonal transition from autumn to winter, the middle portion of the concert focuses on traditional music and carols from various Scandinavian countries as well as music by Scandinavian composers. A musicological journey through the Twelve Days of Christmas comprises Part III. The traditional tune is manipulated to parody different styles of Western music, everything from Gregorian chant to a Viennese waltz to a Sousa march.
