  • There is a new face at Montevideo Publishing. Some businesses in the area may have already had a visit from Wendy Westby, the new multimedia sales representative for Montevideo Publishing, but for those who haven't met her, or simply those who are curious, we wanted to offer an official introduction.
Westby is a 2000 graduate from Montevideo High School, and is a familiar resident of the area. her parents, Steve and Marsha Walstrom, live north of Montevideo, where Steve farms. Westby's husband, Dan Westby, is from Dawson. He works for Twin Cities Western Railroad and farms with his father-in-law.
Westby graduated from Metropolitan State University in Minneapolis with a bachelor's degree in human resources and a focus on business management. She also has an associates degree in business administration.
As she is from the area, and raising a family here, Westby is already pretty acquainted with businesses in the area, and does a lot of her shopping locally.
"I like the small town life, it's very personal," Westby said.
As a multimedia sales representative, Westby will be working closely with the area businesses which are a cornerstone of our communities.
"I love interacting with people ... I'm looking forward to it," Westby said.
Though she is familiar with the businesses, Westby will be spending a lot of time in these next few weeks meeting new people and introducing herself personally. She started just last Monday, and set to work on that goal immediately.
"I hope people feel comfortable approaching me," she said. "I like to be accessible."
Westby said she has already learned a lot in her first week at Montevideo Publishing.
"Every business is different, and has a different approach," she said.
Westby can be reached at the Montevideo Publishing office by calling (320) 269-2156 or by e-mailing her at Wendyw@montenews.com
