As of today, the FCC ban of "excessively loud" TV commercials is in effect. Congress passed Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation (CALM) in 2010, and the FCC declared Dec. 13, 2012, the deadline for compliance. Sound in commercials must now be "same average volume" as the rest of the channel's programming. The FCC will not monitor channels to ensure they follow volume guidlelines, but will depend on consumers to police channels and file complaints if they notice non-compliance.
"Glee" pays tribute to the Christmas romantic comedy "Love, Actually." Like the movie, the episode will have several interwoven stories that explore various kinds of love during the holiday season. And, because it's "Glee," there will be lots of singing. Fox 9 p.m. EST.
