Monday night was the first Montevideo City Council meeting of the new year, and the first meeting for newly elected council members Todd Hay and Nathan Schmidt.
After Hay and Schmidt were sworn in, the first order of business was to elect a new council president. With little ado, council member Marv Garbe was nominated and voted in with only one abstaining vote: his own.
With that out of the way, the council moved into an agenda packed primarily with organizational items that will be journalled on page 2A in What the City Said. The primary business of the evening was to review appointments to city boards and commissions, and make new appointments.
The Board of Health, which has three annual terms, maintained all three incumbents.
