Dawson-Boyd Arts Association will present singer, songwriter and cowboy poet Pop Wagner on Saturday, February 2 at Memorial Auditorium as part of Dawson's Winterfest Weekend activities. His concert will feature music, poetry, storytelling and even rope tricks! Known as the Renaissance Cowboy, Wagner was a frequent guest on public radio's A Prairie Home Companion during the show's formative years and has worked his cowboy magic throughout most of the United States in the last four decades. His cowboy anthems crackle with the warmth of a prairie campfire and his old time fiddle tunes set toes a-tapping while he delivers spellbinding rope tricks and tall stories with a good dose of friendly humor.
Memorial Auditorium lobby will host multiple activities that evening: the featured artist exhibit will be Crop Art by Sandra Fjerkenstad Budel; coffee from Marc's on Main will be served; the quilt raffle fundraiser will be in its final moments. The winner of the quilt will be drawn at intermission.
Event sponsors are AGP of Dawson and Rekow Management, LLC of Montevideo. Tickets will be available at the door or by calling the box office at 320-769-2955 ext. 246 during the week prior to the concert. The concert is free for Arts Association members. The evening will begin at 7:30pm with a brief annual meeting in the auditorium. It is also Volunteer Appreciation Night.
