    Feb. 24, 1981: Socialite Jean Harris is convicted of murdering Dr. Herman Tarnower, author of "The Complete Scarsdale Medical Diet."  Harris shot Tarnower after thier relationship ended, claiming she meant to shoot herself but misfired when he tried to take the gun.
