  • The second largest attended event during the 4-H year is the Project Bowl competition.  Patterned after the golden-oldie television show "College Bowl", it challenges teams of three to six youth in their knowledge of certain 4-H project areas.  Currently there are seven different bowls: Dairy, Dog, General Livestock, Horse, Poultry, Rabbit and Wildlife.  A regional contest was held in Redwood Falls on Saturday, March 16. Seventy-nine teams participated in this contest! There are two age divisions for each bowl--junior and senior.  Junior teams are composed of 4-Hers in grades 3 thru 8 and senior teams are composed of members in grades 4 thru 4-H graduation (12+1).  The top teams in each area advance to the State Bowl and State winners in Dairy, General Livestock, Horse, and Poultry go on to national contests in places like Denver, CO; Louisville, KY; Omaha, NE and Columbus, OH.

At the Redwood Regional Contest, Chippewa County had fifteen young people experience the Junior and Senior horse knowledge bowl competition. The horse bowl teams are coached by Kathy Johnson with the help of many other adult volunteers.

Chippewa County has a senior horse team and junior horse team that will advance to the State Competition to be held on April 13, in Foley, Minnesota.
