  • David Medellin Jr., 18, of Montevideo, is facing charges of assault in the first degree and assault in the second degree stemming from an incident that occurred outside a residence on the 200 block of South Seventh Street in Montevideo Saturday morning.
At 8:28 a.m. Saturday, the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital regarding a patient who came to the hospital with a stab wound in the upper left side of his chest.
At the hospital, the victim, a 21-year-old Montevideo man, told Montevideo Police that he was at a party at a house on South Seventh Street and was told to leave. He came back later saying he forgot his jacket and some CDs, but was told they could not be found. An argument ensued.
From a police photo lineup, the victim later identified Medellin Jr. as the man who approached him and stabbed him outside of the house where the party was held.
According the the victim, after being stabbed he fell down, got up and punched Medellin Jr. in the face. The victim then ran home and tried to treat his wound, but realizing the injury was serious, he walked to a gas station on Highway 7 and called his mother, who brought him to the hospital emergency room.
A search warrant was issued and Medellin Jr. was questioned. Medellin Jr. told the arresting officer that he thought (the victim) was reaching into his pocket for a knife or gun and "it was just something that never should have happened."
Three other people were arrested while executing the search warrant of the residence. Britanny Jo Beecroft, 21, of Montevideo, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) in the fifth degree.
David Medellin Sr., 39, of Montevideo, and Ronald Radunz, 18, of Clara City, were both arrested on probation violation warrants.
