The Montevideo Women’s Expo, called “refresh life, a day for women” is returning on April 27 with a new schedule intended to make sure everyone can catch all of the events.
The expo, hosted by the Montevideo Area Chamber of Commerce, runs from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Montevideo TACC, and will feature 51 booths with various area vendors, businesses and organizations with relevence to women in the area.
There will be four breakout sessiosn this year, with the first three going through the morning, and the final at noon. They are: “Scarf Tying For Every Season and Style” with Ali Werder, “Essential Oil Basics” with Carol Unzeen, “Make Tour Own Vinyl Design” with Patti Statesbery, and the feature at the noon hour, “Never Give up! The Survivor Way” with former survivor finalist Holly Hoffman.
Hoffman placed fourth in season 21 of Survivor Nicaragua, and now travels around the United States making appearances and speaking for organizations and schools as a motivational speaker. She is the author of “Your Winner Within.”
Jennie Gunlogson, who has organized the event with the Chamber of Commerce, said the new format includes fewer breakout sessions, but should allow more attendence. Packing everything in the morning, but not all at the same time, will have breakout sessions going during the event’s typical busy hours, but not conflicting with each other.
As far as the booths go, the 51 scheduled fill 60 spaces, as some entities purchased two.
“We have been booked since two months before the event,” said Gunlogson. “We are packed full, and we have to turn a lot of vendors away. People seem to reall y like the event.”
There has been a waiting list for awhile now, but it doesn’t look like any space for booths will be opening up.
“I really woud like to take this event to the next level but we’ll need more space,” Gunlgoson said.
She said the chamber is looking into options for a larger event.
Granite Grinder of Granite Falls will be providing the food for the expo this year.
Tickets are available at the Montevideo Chamber of Commerce, Cornerstone Chiropractic, KleinBank and Minnwest Bank up through Friday, April 26. Tickets purchased ahead of time are $5, and at the door they are $10.
There will be hoursly doorprizes, with prizes donated by vendors at the event. Grand prizes at the end may include donated items like wine, chocolate, massage coupons or jewelry.
