New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will co-host the May 24th edition of Today, NBC announced Tuesday.
The appearance is the last of a five-day cross-country trip for Today, which also stops in Hawaii, Chicago, Orlando, and Yellowstone National Park.
Christie will co-host the morning show from the Jersey Shore, which is still in need of aid after last October's Hurricane Sandy. Christie, who has been a vocal and visible advocate for Sandy relief, will host the second hour of the show, at 8 a.m. ET.
Christie surprised many this week when he revealed that he underwent lap-band stomach surgery in February. Sources say he has already lost nearly 40 pounds. "I've struggled with this issue for 20 years," Christie told the New York Post Tuesday. "For me, this is about turning 50 and looking at my children and wanting to be there for them."
