  • On the heels of the news that NBC has renewed Parks and Recreation for a sixth season, the network has canceled struggling comedies 1600 Penn, Whitney, Guys with Kids and Up All Night, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
1600 Penn, which followed the lives of the First Family (Bill Pullman, Josh Gad and Jenna Elfman included), debuted in December to 6.88 million viewers and a 2.2 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic, dropping to 1.91 million and a 0.7 in the demo for the finale. Meanwhile, sophomore comedy Whitney returned to 4.22 million viewers and a 1.4, before falling to 2.88 million and 1.0 in the finale. Freshman sitcom Guys with Kids only snagged 3.07 million and a 1.1 demo in its finale.
Up All Night, meanwhile, had been plagued with creative changes in its second season, followed by the exit of Christina Applegate. Up All Night's last two original episodes, which aired back-to-back on Dec. 13, grabbed an average of 2.75 million viewers and a 1.0 rating in the demo.
Fall TV Scorecard: Renewed or canceled?
1600 Penn and Whitney join the recently canceled Deception. Earlier Thursday, the network picked up a new season of Parks, which joins previously renewed shows Parenthood, Grimm, Law & Order: SVU and freshmen series Chicago Fire and Revolution. The network also gave series orders to Jason Katims' About a Boy, J.J. Abrams' Believe, Crisis, The Family Guide starring Parker Posey, and Sean Hayes' Sean Saves the World.
