Derek Olson, Shaun Rodeberg and Stephanie Weick have been hired as full-time deputies for the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department as of the beginning of this month.
Olson is a 2004 graduate of Montevideo High School. He graduated from Alexandria Tech in 2006 with a law enforcement degree, and began working part time for the Montevideo Police Department, and part time for the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department.
Now full time with the Sheriff’s Department, Olson will continue to work part time with the Montevideo P.D. and will continue as an EMT for the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital.
Rodeberg is a 2007 graduate of Montevideo High School. He graduated from Alexandria Tech in 2009 with his law enforcement degree, and in 2010 he started part time for dispatch and the jail in Chippewa County, as well as the Granite Falls Police Department and the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Department.
He will continue to work part time with his previous departments while working full time as a deputy in Chippewa County. He also farms in the area.
Weick earned her law enforcement degree in Sioux Falls, in 2003. She worked in Brookings County, S.D., for two years, first as a correctional officer, and was promoted to deputy.
In 2006, she began working for dispatch and as a jailer in Chippewa County. In 2009 she returned to school for one year to earn her Minnesota law enforcement degree, and became a part time deputy in Chippewa County.
She will continue with the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department as a full-time deputy.
