Mildred (Walstrom) Fleming Carter was born in Rossie/Spencer, Iowa in 1917, but was raised, married and had three sons in the Montevideo area.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Carl and Hilma Walstrom; sisters, Mable (and Irven) Myers, and Bonnie Olsen-Winters; brothers, Tommy (and Doris) Walstrom, and Ivan (and Ruth) Walstrom; two husbands, Edward M. (Ed) Fleming and Raymond (Ray) Carter.
She is survived by her brother, Marvin (and Alida) Walstrom, of Northfield; sons, Michael D. (and Nancy) Fleming, of Tacoma Wash., Raymond P. (and Cathie) Fleming, Troy N.Y., and Robert L. (and Judy) Fleming, of Minneapolis; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five nieces and seven nephews including Gary Walstrom of Hayward, and Wayne Walstrom, of New Brighton.
Millie started working at 15 on the Ikleburger farm near Clara City, then at Duland’s restaurant in Dawson, where she met her first husband. She also worked at the MN Dept. of Licensing, and Univac/Sperry Rand in the Twin Cities. After retiring she spent summers in Minnesota and winters in McAllen Texas.
Family and friends were always welcome at her homes. Wherever she worked and lived, she made friends with her outgoing personality. She lived a long and full life, leaving us with many good memories, as she joins her Lord.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Fleming Family, 4515 Zenith Ave. S, Minneapolis, MN 55410, are preferred.
Washburn-McReavy, Robbinsdale Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements (763-537-2333).
