In a health=crazed world, sometimes the information is confusing.
My husband and I are trying to navigate our way through this world of food. It is disturbing to say the least. We are hearing specialists and highly-trained people telling us what to eat. Only juice! Don't eat red meat! Only eat red meat! Agave nectar but not honey! Only whole foods! No soda (they all agree on that one)! No processed sugars, only natural sugars. No carbs! Only organic.
It can make a sane girl feel crazy and a crazy girl feel like her world is spinning out of control.
So what is the answer? We are still muddling through this chapter of our lives. We have realized our Firstly is starting to not accept things with too much sugar. She says to her friends, "Do you know how much sugar is in that?" And, I had a brownie craze the other day, found "sugar free" brownie mix but it has splenda in it. My friend says, "We don't want to eat processed things like splenda (although her son is on a sugar-free diet). So is it OK to eat things from the store that say "sugar free" ? So many conflicting reports. Some say yes, some say no.
Our story continues, with a healthy dose of spice, and with some logic. We are moving toward a whole-foods diet, because we want that to be our lifestyle. It isn't going to be a craze for us but a lifetime of eating healthy. Living in the Midwest and eating a whole foods diet in the winter is going to prove difficult (and expensive) but to us it is worth it. Onward!
