The Montevideo American Legion baseball team scored a pair of wins the past week to improve its record to 10-3.
Post 59 will conclude the regular season with a home game against Litchfield today (Thursday) at 7 p.m.
Montevideo downed Cottonwood 6-3 Monday at home.
Winning pitcher Jordan Thompson took a shutout into the seventh inning before being touched for three unearned runs. Thompson finished with a six-hitter. He didn't walk a batter and had eight strikeouts.
Thompson, Jeff Rohloff, Tristan Weber, Austin Hiepler, Markus Kranz, Josh Henderson and Logan Knoshal all had hit for Montevideo. Henderson drove in three runs.
Post 59 rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 5-3 here Tuesday.
Montevideo scored all of its runs in the fifth inning. Austin Hiepler had a two-run double and Jeff Rohloff and Jordan Thompson also had RBIs in the inning.
Markus Kranz, Tristan Weber, Josh Henderson and Logan Knoshal also hit safely for Montevideo.
Rohloff went the distance on the mound, keeping GFW off the scoreboard after giving up all three runs in the first inning. Rohloff scattered eight hits, didn't walk a batter and had four strikeouts.
Montevideo is the No. 1 seed of its bracket of the District 7, Division II playoffs. Post 59 will play the winner of Monday's game between Granite Falls and Minneota on Thursday, July 18. The tournament continues July 20 and 21, with the district final four tourney scheduled for July 25 through 27.
