Person of Interest is rooting for Root.
The CBS sci-fi thriller has promoted Amy Acker to series regular for the upcoming Season 3, it was announced at Saturday's Comic-Con panel. Root is a talented assassin and cyber-hacker for hire who is intent on setting the Machine free. In the Season 2 finale, her plan was thwarted by Finch (Michael Emerson) and she was institutionalized. However, in the closing moment the Machine contacted Root with a phone call.
During the panel, Acker said about her character, "I don't think she's mean but if people don't do what she tells them to, she gets upset."
Acker joins Sarah Shahi, who will also join the cast full-time next year after recurring on Season 2. Person of Interest returns in its new timeslot on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 10/9c on CBS. (Full disclosure: TVGuide.com is owned by CBS.)
