Help in fight against drugs
Last week you were part of a murder in Mexico and maybe one closer to home.
You might say to me, “I wasn’t even in Mexico.” That may be true, but: (1) if you bought drugs; (2) if you sold drugs; (3) if you started someone on the path of drug use — you are guilty.
I’m not an expert, but I observe that drugs somehow dull the conscience and distort one’s thinking.
This is an appeal to all law-abiding citizens — if you see something, say something.
This is an appeal to all our law enforcement people. Please use your time and resources to catch the people who sell drugs.
This is an appeal to our court system, when our police bring someone who sells drugs into your courtroom, please do what you can to put them away and protect our young people. We do not want any young person to be led down the dark and evil path of drug use.
Honor our firefighters
Next Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m., there will be a family community picnic, open to everyone, at the United Methodist Church. We will be honoring the fire department volunteers.
In July we honored the EMTs (emergency medical team) of Montevideo. We are so fortunate to have these two volunteer groups in our town.
This picnic is free to all, so come and help us say “thank you” and enjoy fellowship with your friends and neighbors. Some games will be available for children.
Come one, come all.
