I was fascinated by the NBC poll with regard to involvement in Syria and subsequent commentary on the poll. One of the primary reasons Americans seem to oppose involvement in Syria is “Middle East Fatigue.” In short, Americans don’t want to hear about the Arab Spring, Afghanistan, Iraq, dead children, weapons of mass destruction, terrorists or American obligations thereto and arising therefrom. Indeed, it seems that the more the Obama Administration tries to talk about these things, the more its support falls. If Obama keeps talking about Syria, he might just hit the ultimate achievement of popularity at 0%. 12 years after 9/11, Americans just don’t want to hear about it anymore.
This got me thinking: what else are we fatigued about and never want to hear about again?
I’ll start: George Zimmerman and his troubles.
Any other takers?
