Montevideo residents may notice a brand new pontoon in the True Value parking lot. The pontoon arrived on Saturday, and it replaces the one stolen from Let’s Go Fishing — a volunteer organization that began with the goal of giving seniors the opportunity to enjoy fishing, and the outdoors — in June.
The theft of the pontoon, and the equipment onboard, came as a shock to the Montevideo community; as of now, the pontoon hasn’t been found.
Let’s Go Fishing has served over 100,000 people statewide, and has been in operation for 10 years. There are 30 chapters in Minnesota, and one in Wisconsin.
“This is the first time this has ever happened ... but it gives us great pleasure to be able to roll in a new one, knowing how much it means to people,” said Joe Holm, president and executive director of Let’s Go Fishing of Minnesota.
