  • A three-match winning streak has lifted the Montevideo volleyball team’s record to 6-8-1.
    After losing to Sauk Centre on Sept. 23, the Thunder Hawks scored wins over ACGC, YME and Paynesville.
    The Thunder Hawks have road matches against Sauk Centre today (Thurs­day) and Minne­waska on Monday.
    Sauk Centre 3, Monte 0
    The West Central Con­ference North leading Mainstreeters dispatched the Thunder Hawks in three sets at Montevideo.
    Abby Olson led Monte­video with six kills.
    Montevideo 3, ACGC 0
    A balanced hitting attack lifted the T-Hawks past the Falcons in three sets on Sept. 24 at Grove City.
    Abby Olson notched eight kills, Alexis Schmitz six and Alyssa Stern five.
    Montevideo 3, YME 2
    After dominating the first set, the Thunder Hawks had to hold off a determined Sting team in five sets here last Thursday.
    Montevideo trailed 11-8 in the decisive fifth set until Kayla Collins served for four points, two coming on Abby Olson kills, for a 13-11 Montevideo lead.
    The Sting tied it at 13, but Montevideo prevailed on a Sting error and Jessie Janisch’s sixth ace of the match.
    Alexis Schmitz had 14 kills, Alyssa Stern 10 and Olson nine. Janisch had 19 digs in addition to her six ace serves.
    Monte 3, Paynesville 0
    The T-Hawks got 10 kills and seven ace blocks from Alexis Schmitz in Tues­day’s three-sets sweep at Paynesville.
    Montevideo made eight ace serves, led by Jessie Janisch with three.
