  • The Montevideo volleyball team lost its final match of the regular season to Lac qui Parle Valley.
The Thunder Hawks will take an 8-12 record into their first-round match in the Section 3AA North tournament Friday at 7 p.m. at Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta.
Morris/CA is the No. 3 seed and Montevideo is sixth in a scenario similar to last season when the sixth-seeded T-Hawks upset the third-seeded Tigers in four sets at Morris.

They may not be conference rivals any more, but there is definitely still a strong rivalry between Montevideo and Lac qui Parle Valley.
The visiting Eagles rallied from two sets down to defeat the Thunder Hawks last Thursday in the regular season finale for both teams.
After winning a closely contested first set 26-24 behind 10 service points from Kayla Collins, the Thunder Hawks seemed poised to sweep the Eagles after taking the second set 25-19.
The Eagles never trailed in winning the third set 25-19, and they led early in the fourth set before Jessie Janisch served for six straight points for Montevideo.
An ace serve by Tori Kuhlmann gave Montevideo a 23-20 lead, and an ace block by Alexis Schmitz gave Montevideo a match point at 24-22, but the Eagles tied it at 24 on a kill by Kaitlyn Connor and two Montevideo errors gave the set and all the momentum to the Eagles.
The Eagles scored the first four points of the deciding set. Montevideo led briefly at 7-6 and 8-7, but the Eagles prevailed 15-11 to improve their record to 6-18.
Abby Olson had 15 kills and Alyssa Stern 10 for Montevideo. Collins had four ace serves, Tori Kuhlmann 41 assists, and Alexis Schmitz four blocks.
