  • Chippewa County Emergency Manager Marv Garbe was in attendance at the Chippewa County Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 5, to receive a Certificate of Appreciation from the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
The certificate, which was presented to him by Amy Card, the regional program coordinator for emergency management, was presented for, “outstanding contributions to Chippewa County Emergency Management for the past 17 years ... commitment to response and recovery and ... dedication to public service, mitigation and emergency preparedness.”
Card told the board, “He has made things easy here.”
“I was here before Marv had the job, and it was like night and day,” Commissioner Jim Dahlvang said.
The certificate was presented to Garbe following the news that he will be retiring from the emergency management position at the end of the year. Chippewa County Sheriff Stacy Tufto and Chief Deputy Tim Bergeland will take over his responsibilities for Chippewa County.
