    CARES thanks its supporters
Recently, members of the Montevideo community have come forward to help out CARES (Community Animal Resource, Education & Support) in a most positive way.
First of all, the group would like to say thank you to Bob Christensen for the letter to the editor he submitted to the paper in October about the loss of Tuffy, the cat, in which he included some very kind words about our group and its efforts to help local community animals.
We also wish to thank Julie McDougal and the employees at the Highway 7 Casey’s for the fundraising efforts and silent auction that resulted in a generous donation to CARES this week. Additionally we thank the vendors and contributors of sale items for the fundraiser.
It is because of donations that we can continue to provide assistance to area residents for the spay and neuter of their animals and to senior citizens to assist with necessary pet care.
Our goals are simple: to reduce the number of unwanted and stray animals that die, are killed or injured because they don’t have a good home and to reduce diseases that stray animals can spread in the community.
From the members of CARES, a big “THANK YOU” to all who donated and provided support to our group.

    Proud to be an obstructionist
Question, who are arsonists that never set a building ablaze? Who are hostage takers that never kidnapped anyone? Who are anarchists who are firmly devoted to the rule of law? Who are jihadists who are not Muslim terrorists? And who are KKK members who do not have any racial animosity?
Answer, Tea Party members labeled by the left who, in using the tactics of Neo Marxist Saul Alinsky, are branding millions of Americans as enemies of the state for being politically conservative.
We didn’t realize there were those in Washington that were stirring themselves and fixing us with the eye of a jaundiced gaze for our attempting to rain on their parade of fundamentally transforming our country into a socialist state.
None of us realized that some in high places were looking on us as enemies of the state. They soon responded nationwide by having the IRS go after conservative groups.
Page 2 of 2 - The Tea Party has said no to a  leftist main line movement in the United States to turn our country into a socialist state. This has been manifested in their philosophy of redistribution of wealth and marked by the harmless sounding statement that everyone must pay their fair share, ergo take the assets of the wealthy and redistribute them to those less productive. Another waying of saying from each according to their ability to each according to their need. That is communism. We are against that, all right!’
Voices on the left in political authority are saying that people should have a constitutional right to health care. Unfortunately, the only way to pay for this is to take from the haves and give it to the have nots through redistribution of wealth. A prime example of this is Obama Care, which removes health care from the private sector and involves a government takeover of one-sixth of the economy.
It reminds me of the scene from “Dr. Zhivago” where the once wealthy family comes home and finds 20- other families now living with them in their house. Whatever this is, it is not the American way where hard-working people receive the rewards of their labor and others do not. I have never been a person of considerable means, but I do not resent people, as our President obviously does, who have accumulated wealth through hard work and perseverance.
Hilary Clinton gave a speech the other day which held forth an element castigating those who would rain on this socialist parade. She stated words to the effect that those who were not in agreement with the vision of the left were haters who were obstructing their wonderful progressive experiment. Darn right! We don’t want to see our republic turned into their “progressive movement,” thank you.
In the left’s jaded way of thinking, it is politically incorrect to call a Muslim terrorist a jihadist, but perfectly correct to call a Tea Party member one.
The Alinsky schooled left is correct when they say we are obstructionist. We will obstruct the daylights out of them for what they are attempting to do to the country we love.
