At Monday’s Business After Hours event at The Crossings golf club, the Montevideo Area Community Foundation awarded grants totaling $10,113 to seven groups or organizations.
Organized in 1993 to raise funds for a new Montevideo Community Center, the foundation awards grants solely to non-profit organizations and government entities.
Since 2003, just over $90,000 in grants have been awarded. Grant money is now matched, dollar for dollar, by the Southwest Minnesota Initiative Fund (SWIF). The goal of the Montevideo Area Community Foundation is to raise $25,000 by the end of 2014, resulting in $50,000 in the endowment fund.
