Thank you to anonymous Santa Claus
On December 16, Chippewa County Family Services received mail unlike any we have received in the past 35 years. We had a visit by a very generous, but anonymous, Santa Claus who sent a $1,000 donation to our agency.
To this local “Santa” we would like to say a sincere thank you from our staff and the many families who will benefit from your donation. We often work with families who, because of unforeseen circumstances such as medical diagnosis or job layoffs, find themselves in situations where it is difficult to buy school clothes or replace cooking appliances or purchase items that most people take for granted, such as sheets and towels.
When we receive donations such as this, we are discriminating in how we use the funds so that those who truly need the help receive the benefit. We spend the money locally and we try to make it stretch as far as possible. We take seriously the stewardship of donations.
Again, to this special “Santa” and to all those who donate through adopting families or Santa Anonymous, as well as groups who have donated quilts and food baskets over this holiday season, we thank you. It’s wonderful to live in a community where so many share the true meaning of the holidays.

    Historical Society thanks the public
On behalf of the Chippewa County Historical Society Board of Directors, a sincere thank you to the residents of Chippewa County for their continued support, volunteerism, and generosity to the Society in 2013!
The Society hosted several successful events in 2013, including our annual banquet, Heritage Week, Lac qui Parle Mission Sunday, Horse Power Event, and Christmas in the Village.
Two major projects that were completed include the shingling of the Swensson Farm Museum barn and the authentication of the Burn’s Fur Trading Post at Historic Chippewa City.
We encourage you to join us in keeping history alive by attending one of our events, or by visiting Historic Chippewa City, the Swensson Farm Museum and the Lac qui Parle Mission in 2014. Remember, history is important!
