According to the National Alliance for Caregiving, 29 percent of the adult population in the United States provide care to someone who is ill, disabled or aged. Chippewa County is no exception, with many adults who provide care for loved ones.
In 2014, the Chippewa County Caregiver Program will be celebrating 20 years of assisting caregivers in the community through support and education.
“We reach out to caregivers who are providing care for either distant or close family members,” said Darla Marty, program coordinator for the Chippewa County Caregiver Program.
To help raise funds to continue their efforts, the Chippewa County Caregiver Program is hosting Anthony Shore, an international Elvis Pressley tribute artist. The show will be held at the Hollywood on Main in Montevideo, on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.
“He looks very entertaining,” Marty said. She explained that Shore came to her attention through a fan of his, who has helped organize the effort to bring him to Montevideo, with the desire that the performance benefits charity. “Fans say he is very energetic, that he likes to interact with the crowd.”
Shore, who has been an Elvis tribute artist for 16 years, was raised in London, England, and has been in the United States for two years. He previous toured the Mediterranean, and has been one of the few tribute acts able to maintain a full-time career.
Shore’s jumpsuits are made by the same creator who designed for Elvis, and he has placed first and second in Elvis Week competitions.

Marty said that the event sponsors have been very important to organizing the show. Co-op Credit Union, Mind Your Business, Minnwest Bank, Prudential, KleinBank and Rekow Management, LLC are all sponsoring the event, and are selling tickets at their business locations.
