    Scouts serve the community

The local Boy Scouts of America helped serve the final fish fry dinner at the VFW. They do so much service work, so well; that sometimes we don’t even notice them.

They normally work to raise funds for the activities they conduct as a troop throughout the rest of the year. Troop leaders are Jeff Eickhoff, Mike Vest and Kevin Tebeest. Thank them for the guidance.

They have helped at the Ice Castle Fishing Derby and carried the flags out at the cemetery on Memorial Day. Service projects are available, so please request their service if they can be of help.

    Thanks for the support

When the Montevideo Area Let’s Go Fishing chapter had its pontoon stolen in June last summer, there was some speculation that the program had come to an end in our area.  However, the Let’s Go Fishing program that takes senior citizens, veterans, and youth on FREE boating and fishing outings - is alive and well in 2014 thanks to the unbelievable support of many area individuals, businesses, and organizations!  With the wonderful donations from the following,  a pontoon will again be available from May - September to take groups out on area lakes and rivers.

If you have a group that would like to go on a pontoon excursion this summer, contact the Community Education Office at (320) 269-5026 to reserve a date and time.  Don’t forget the annual Let’s Go Fishing Spaghetti Supper coming up on Thursday, April 10, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Community Center.  Your support to keep the Let’s Go Fishing program going is greatly appreciated.
