  • The home opener for the Thunder Hawk softball team didn’t go as planned.
     
    The Paynesville Bulldogs came to town and rode 12 runs on 16 hits to defeat the Hawks, 12-4.
     
    Going into the fourth inning, the game was tied 1-1. The Bulldogs scored three runs in the fourth, Montevideo, two.
     
    Then Paynesville had innings of three runs and five runs to blow the game open.
     
    Montevideo would add one run late but it wasn’t enough.
     
    At the plate, senior Ashley Hoehne had two triples and a double.
